Entheos Festival 2007 Media Release

Journal | May 26, 2007 | Updated: November 22, 2008 | Posted by Basilisk

Entheos Festival 2007

In just a few weeks I will be heading westward for Entheos 2007. Recently, representatives of the festival made a media release which I thought pertinent to highlight:

From June 22nd to 25th, 2007, the Entheos Summer Solstice Conference and Festival will be held near the scenic Okanagan town of Cherryville, British Columbia.

Entheos will be a showcase of the latest in intelligent electronic music, visionary art, and digital age information. This festival will appeal especially to those who appreciate technology, intellectual exchange, cooperation, consciousness, and an optimistic view of the future. The word “Entheos” is Greek for “the divine within.”

Two stages will feature a variety of flavours of carefully selected new electronic music as well as professional level visual projections and decor design. The lineup includes several internationally known artists including headliner Human Blue from Sweden (www.humanblue.se) and representation from cutting edge artistic communities from the West Coast and beyond.

Daytime conference presentations include topics related to new media, cultural evolution, the power of shared intent, shamanic dance, and how sound frequencies can invoke biologically beneficial brain and body states. The proceedings are more than just lectures and are designed to provide an energetic experience to all participants.

Entheos has been consciously created with environmental concerns in mind, including attention to the gathering’s impact on the land and the intelligent generation and conservation of energy resources towards future sustainability.

For the full text of the media release as well as musical line-up and other details, visit the full event listing here on Ektoplazm or check out the Entheos Gathering home page.

Shaktivism 2: Canada Day Fest

Event | March 5, 2009 | Posted by Basilisk

The Shakti Collective presents a fun in the sun for Canada Day weekend, partying during the day on the roof top in our urban jungle, pounding some psychedelic beats

Ajja & Gaspard make up these psychedelic warriors. In 1998 Gaspard came in for a tattoo in Ajjas shop and they became fast friends. They have performed at festivals and parties around the world and helped launched Peak Records in 2003- Switzerland’s first psy-trance label! Performing together they quickly discovered their high compatibility between Gaspard & Ajja ranging from very similar tastes in music to humour, partying & psychedelic philosophy. The next logical step was the formation of their own live act: Yab-Yum. Logic was bought, laptops were tuned up & they got down to business: Ajja bringing his knowledge of instruments and frequencies and Gaspard, a strong sense of dance-floor dynamics from his experience as a DJ & sound engineer. This combination produces a strong psychedelic dance oriented sound with musical sensitivity. They will bring both their live acts to the roof tops of Toronto!

Ekoplex

Producer Profile | April 11, 2012 | Posted by Basilisk

Ekoplex is Ray Vincent, a multifaceted psychedelic trance and downtempo producer from Toronto, Canada. With an arsenal of heavy rolling beats for the dead of night, ethereal offerings for sunrise, and slower ethno-flavoured grooves for afternoon or early evening, Ekoplex is comfortable performing at any time of day or night. Over the years, Ekoplex has developed a visually engaging live setup that features a MIDI-controlled guitar, keyboards, and other equipment, ensuring that every performance has an original touch. Ekoplex has been thrilling dance floors across North America over the last decade, playing at many major festivals and indoor events. Some highlights include the Eclipse Festival in 2006 and 2008, Gaian Mind in 2008, Harvest 2008, and the Soma 2008 New Year’s event.

In early 2007, Ekoplex rocketed to the top of the Cytopia sales charts with Castle In The Mountain, a song that combines crunchy techtrance rhythms with glistening melodic highs. Shortly thereafter he made his formal debut with the release of the Enter The Dragon EP on Ektoplazm. This was followed by the massively successful launch of Journey Of The Turtle, Ekoplex’s full-length album, in August of 2008.
