Talamasca’s New Album Released for Free

Journal | May 9, 2007 | Updated: November 8, 2009 | Posted by Basilisk

Talamasca - Obsessive Dream

After the recent success of ultra-melodic dance floor anthems like Ghost In Goa, Overload (included here), and Roswell Mania, Talamasca is back with a massive new release! In an incredibly bold move, Mind Control Records are offering Talamasca’s brand new double-CD album “Obsessive Dream” for free download in MP3 format direct from their site. As they say, “at Mind Control Records, we are thinking differently. MP3 is a wonderful tool for promotion, and also, it is the best way for an artist to spread his music all over the world!!!” Talamasca also chimes in with a few gracious words:

To give this album on MP3 is for me the best way to say thank you to all the people who have enjoyed my music in the past ten years, who have discovered it recently, or for those who will enjoy it n the future!!!

Shockingly, it isn’t even available in stores yet! Links will be provided to the major shops whenever they begin stocking the physical release. In the meantime, if you enjoy the full-on side of psychedelic trance, don’t miss this!

Two Free Albums from ManMadeMan

Journal | May 8, 2007 | Updated: November 8, 2009 | Posted by Basilisk

ManMadeMan

In anticipation of the release of their fifth album Free To Listen, ManMadeMan are giving away their first two albums in MP3 format on their web site. Lovetechnology, originally released on Flying Rhino Records in 2000, and Cell Division, released with Transient two years later, are both free for your listening pleasure. I hear a rumour that WAV copies might be available as well–but there is nothing to report as of yet.

Interested? Visit their homepage or Myspace page and be sure to check out Free To Listen!

Promise: Cherry Blossom Party

Event | May 6, 2007 | Posted by Basilisk

I lifted this info from the promise mailing list… consider it an unofficial “summer has started” kind of event.

this sunday May 6th, 3 in the afternoon til 9pm
promise ambient cherry blossom picnic in high park

Every year in this time of season the cherry trees come into amazing full bloom just for a few sweet days and then they all blow away. There is a venerable tradition of cherry blossom festivals, especially in Japan. Our dj friends will be playing ambient and chill music that’s nicely suited for absorbing the tranquility and beauty of the spot:

Lex and Rew
Medicineman
Aia
Shen (Noah Pred)

location: South west side of the park, just west of the restaurant (lots of parking). Walk down towards the pond and we’re right there on the hillside.

This day is also High Park Day, so there will be other things to do in the park. At 10am (see you there!) there is a spring planting and a walking tour of the prescribed burn sights, and then from 12 – 4 there is a native plant sale, where they sell ecologically correct little seedlings. This is at Colborne Lodge, just near where we’ll be setting up. http://www.toronto.ca/wes/techservices/involved/outreach/vsp/index.htm

Thanks to Matt for letting us know that the sunday is World Laughter Day 2007 and people will be meeting in High Park from 2 – 4pm where the High Park Laughter Club will have a laughter yoga session, games and cake (cake is no laughing matter!). Go to this link to find out where – http://www.torontoist.com/archives/2007/05/lol_to_feel_goo.php

The day calls for warm temperature and lots of sun but come very prepared. The late afternoon and evening will get cool and even if you just plan to come by for a short visit, you may get swept up and stay til the end. So come prepared. Bring blankets, sleeping bags, chairs, hammocks. Tuck away a hat, sweater, gloves and a thermos of tea to keep yourselves warm. Bring a nice bit of a picnic. Don’t expect deep dancefloor music, we’re focused on beatless ambient music for this occasion.

Do yourself the favour of coming down nice and early, nothing beats the feeling of sun hitting your face through the cherry blossoms as the day slips by.

Thanks to Blaine (blankfoto) for the generator and Justin (alienInFlux) for the sound system.
