Artists featured on this free release include Galactic Monkey, Andro (psytrance guise of the successful techno project AP), Skyhighatrist, Metaspiral, Oc (label organizer Kristian Roberts), White Overtone Wizard (who released his debut album Positivitize on JOOF Records last summer), the Russian project SOM, and the Brazilian act Groove Machines.

Jikooha

Producer Profile | March 14, 2010 | Posted by Basilisk

Jikooha

Jikooha is an eclectic Japanese trance act that combines blistering electronics with real guitars in their unique live shows. Now based in Tokyo, Jun and Shimodi first began their collaboration as members of a punk and new wave-influenced alternative rock band in the early nineties. After discovering Goa trance in 1996, Jikooha (meaning “the wave of time and space” in Japanese) was formed to explore the intersection of psychedelic dance and punk music. Following an experimental approach, Jikooha blends different sounds and styles expressing a genuine love for all music. This syncretic process–channelling the flow of innumerable genres into a cohesive personal vision–is regarded as a fundamental component of the group’s own spiritual journey through sound.

Jikooha’s debut album New Breed was released on Tod Aquarium in 2003. This was later followed by Shamanarchy (Panorama 2006), a name that perfectly combines elements of the group’s two main influences: “Goa spiritualism and the anarchic tendencies of punk.” Future plans include an upcoming album release in 2008 as well as an appearance on the first free compilation release from Ektoplazm.
