Om Reunion Project: Dreamcatcher

Event | December 9, 2008 | Posted by Basilisk

OM Reunion Project invites you to a Magical Winter Solstice Evening

DREAMCATCHER

Featuring musical performances by:

The Dukes!
(AcmeLabz)

Toronto’s electronic glitch-funk techno duo, The Dukes, have dj’d from the biggest clubs to remote fields to biker compounds. They’ve thrown parties, won awards, ran radio shows and dressed up for days other than Halloween. They’ve even sonically shook the gates of hell along with the likes of Afrika Bambaata, Ellen Allien, Kevin Saunderson, Matthew Herbert, Tiga and many, many others.

No one’s died yet.
…so what have you got to lose?

Yoshi & Chie- Kaminari
(usmicmusic.com)

KAMINARI (as known as Yoshi & Chie) are an instrumental duo, exploring and creating a new synthesis in sound which takes us beyond the borders of both East and West. Bridging the gap between traditional instruments and electronica their haunting melodies on the Sitar and Didgeridoo soar over driving global rhythms. Over the years they have continued to refine their awesome talent for fusion, mixing meditative classical Indian ragas with highly energetic compositions, modern cutting-edge sounds and grooves, to create a music both distinctive and unique.

Basilisk
(ektoplazm.com)

Basilisk is the primary force behind the Ektoplazm netlabel and music portal, the world’s foremost repository of free and legal psytrance downloads. Although rooted firmly in psytrance culture, Basilisk’s versatile DJ sets cross genre boundaries to incorporate a wide range of outside influences. For Dreamcatcher, Basilisk will likely focus on a tasteful mix of cutting edge productions in the fields of deep psychedelic trance, minimal techno, and progressive house.

Blacklight Activists / Toronto, Canada

Having both been involved in various projects over the years the two bring together a mature and cultured sound that will not be bound by genrefication. Being heavily influenced by the psychedelic, techno and progressive movements, these elements are deeply rooted in their innovative music. Dark and atmospheric sound scapes propel you into a world of unknown emotion, exploring the vastness of the night, pulled from the void by the solar sounds of light. The mission – to undue the chains of midi-ocrity that bind so much progress, and reserect the finest elements of underground sounds.

NEXUS 7 *LIVE*
Substance Recordings / Toronto, Canada

The Nexus7 is Steve Chan, a performer, producer and remixer based out of Toronto. After spending a number of years in the U.K., Steve was inspired by live PA performers such as Lab4, K90, Nu Idol, and Captain Tinrib to begin to create what has become The Nexus7. The Nexus7 is described on Ektoplazm.com as “a fresh act rising from the underground featuring a tight blend of trance styles, both hard and psychedelic”. Over the past year, The Nexus7 live show has had great success, playing at events by Shakti Collective, Braincell ProductionsGlobal, Ektoplazm, at Darkrave, Outworld Resistance, and with Bizune Audio at the Tokyo CyberMonster Party2. Each one hour, continuous set has its own flavour. The show is in a constant state of evolution, as Steve is always remixing, writing and adding new material to the set. With an array of synths played and tweaked, and with real-time control over a multitude of parameters, each performance becomes a unique experience.

Ektoplazm on last.fm

Journal | December 8, 2008 | Posted by Basilisk

Ektoplazm maintains a presence on last.fm, a social networking site focusing on music. You can find our full catalogue in the last.fm database (not that you really need it) as well as an Ektoplazm user group (which you are hereby invited to join). Feel free to check out my personal profile and befriend me as well!

In case you are wondering what this last.fm thing is all about, the overview on their site scopes out the basics. Essentially, last.fm tracks your listening habits and produces cool stuff like personalized charts, recommendations, and radio stations. There is a lot more to it, of course–have a look around. They attempt to push a media player on new registrants but you don’t have to use it; seek out a plug-in for whatever media player you presently use and away you go!
