Koxbox – Birdy

Video | August 26, 2009 | Posted by Basilisk

While scanning Youtube for classic psytrance tracks I turned up an incredibly ancient relic: the video for Koxbox – Birdy (also known as Pipfugl), dated 1993. It really doesn’t get much older than this!

Clone – Real Eyes
01 :: Quantum Elements (143 BPM)
02 :: Maelstrom (142 BPM)
03 :: Forest Green (142 BPM)
04 :: Mile High (2009 Remix) (144 BPM)

Real Eyes is the long-awaited debut EP from Clone (Gordon Brown), a psytrance producer and DJ from Ontario, Canada. Clone’s unique style–a fusion of full-on psytrance, progressive, and old school Goa trance–has been inspired by his exposure to the Canadian arctic and many years of deep musical exploration. The resulting sound evokes a wide range of emotional experiences–nostalgia, melancholy, enchantment, and pure unadulterated bliss. Each of the five songs included on Real Eyes have been composed with a different feeling in mind, taking the listener on a journey through the heart of psychedelic trance. This EP has been mastered by Akhentek and features artwork by Zen. Released in partnership with Tundra Records.

The Objectification of Music

Quotation | August 24, 2009 | Posted by Basilisk

“Sound recording literally turns music into an object, such as a CD, but more important, it allows music to function as a thing that one possesses rather than a structured temporal event to which one must give oneself up.”

Julian Johnson, Who Needs Classical Music? Cultural Choice and Musical Value, 2002
