People Of Earth is a full-length album by Reon (Jeremy Starseed), a veteran psytrance DJ and producer based in Gothenburg, Sweden. After many inspiring years travelling, Reon began to translate his experiences into a vibrational language–an “emotional/spiritual carrier wave” designed to slip messages into the deepest, most dimly lit corners of the human spirit. This mission was undertaken at Mothership Studio, a custom-designed womb-like environment stocked with vintage 60′s analog circuits, vacuum tubes, and germanium transistors, all of which impart a lovely clarity to Reon’s worldly sound. People Of Earth is among the first completed results of this process, having been originally released in 2007 on his own independent label 67Rec. Expect to hear a diverse assortment of upbeat and melodic psychedelic trance steeped in the classic traditions of the genre. Mastered at Mothership Studio (also on MySpace).

Alien Unfolding is the 2007 debut of Mister Chill’R (Roger Groendyke), a downtempo producer from the Pacific Northwest. Mister Chill’R is no newcomer to the computer music scene, having been at it for over 20 years. In recent years he has honed his skills at the Spun Academy in Portland, Oregon, under the direction of Planewalker, with whom he founded the Chaos Control project. The result is a pleasant fusion of spacious pads, deep bass hits, and organic atmospheres.

Moonshadow is a classic psytrance mix originally composed for the Global Goa Party, a virtual event conceived to “create the soundtrack for a full night (and morning) of old-school Goa trance by ten DJs from all over the world.” The rules were simple: record a mix with music that would have been heard on the dance floor in 1999. I snapped up the 12:30 to 2:00am time slot and spent weeks scouring my collection for the right stuff to hasten the journey into darkness and lunacy. Naturally, this exercise aroused great nostalgia for my own initiation into psytrance culture sometime in 1997 or 1998. Since many of my earliest memories of partying in Toronto were formed at events thrown by the Moonshadow collective I decided to dedicate this mix to DJ Dam, Cyber G, Yohimbe, John Dee, and everyone else who was there in the beginning. Recorded at Ilum Studios, B.C.
