Baron Samdi is Oswald Pfeiffer, a French producer known in the Goa scene as PharaOm, a frequent contributor to Underground Alien Factory Records. Cursed Bloodline introduces Pfeiffer’s darker side: a rich psychedelic world of sound distinguished by orchestral elements and plenty of eerie atmospheres. This release covers the strange middle ground between light and shadows, working with themes of mysticism, witchcraft, and voodoo to tell the kind of story you might find in the New Orleans of the weirdest horror movies. Mastered by Keamia with cover art by Ewoud Vandenberghen and Oswald Pfeiffer.

Very nice release. Great buildups and emotion.
Havent listened yet, tho the idea of it being a full on (crap) release instead of genuiune goa (good) turns me down a little bit.
OF course i will try it tho!
Full on and goa the diference is so big that it made me stop collecting “psy” music!
Full on was created to milk some cash out of the goa culture, goatrance was more underground and genuine, but impossible to exploit commercially. Full on is like a friendly version of goa, taking out also the middle eastern melodic influences.
Both Full on and darkpsy leave a lot to be desired, in 1000 tunes from each style is HARD to find a single decent tune. Goa, soumi and psychedelic trance are the way to go!

When I worked on these tunes my purpose was to make something unusual and experimental by melting elements of goa, dark, forest, and ofcourse a bit of classical music.
Please take it as it comes: this EP is NOT fullon (Never wanted to create fullon and and truly don’t give a f* about this type of music), it’s just Craftwork and underground trance.

I agree w/ Baron Samdi/PharaOm he is not full on. However, I see the confusion considering that equipment and production techniques have changed a lot since the days of original goa, and therefore modern basslines are typically going to be more sonically similar to those of ‘full on’ than to the old goa. This stuff is all quite digital.
I think people are silly to make generalized statements about entire genres / subgenres. Fact is, there are producers in every niche who make bland, indistinct music, and those who invest their music w/ real creativity, depth and feeling.
Have you people heard, for example, Ryanosaurus’ “Kaleidosaur”, available here on ektoplazm. Epic, sophisticated 10 minute tracks full of twists, turns, dramatic emotions and diverse instrumentation. Yet this is “Full On”.
Or how about “Mother Pitch” by Toï Doï, also available here, blending full on and goa so seamlessly it shows not only the potentials of both styles, but the fact that they can co-exist in harmony (!).

I think a lot of people here rate the music judging by the cover art, sometimes before actually listening to the songs. This sucks because it can be misleading and does not help the listener decide what to listen. I wonder if anyone agrees with this.
Maybe it’d be better if we didn’t rate.
Anyway, nice music here, original and with good storytelling soundscapes, as usual from Oswald.
