Magikal Intentions Post-Meta

Magikal Intentions was a phenomenal success! The very first Metamystix gathering thoroughly realized our collective vision. Endless appreciation goes out to absolutely everyone who devoted months of their lives to the preparations, and all the people who came out and experienced the altered reality that we collectively manifested. Read onward to scope out some of the reviews and lovely photographs that were taken at our first intentional gathering.

I have compiled a selection of excerpts from reviews posted to this thread on the Om board, and a few other places… the first comment comes from spündar:

as for “pretty special”, gross understatement!…great job on the immersive deco and awesome use of the mirrors…to me, it looked like a hazy parallel universe, where our others were doing the exact same thing…i left the main room to check out the chill room for maybe 10 minutes total, but i kept being drawn back out front…it’s been so long since i danced that hard, that long (probably eclipse last year)…and everyone’s costumes were great

the music was just phenomenal….the first dj on when i showed up i think was further…i missed most of his set but that’s ok!, i get to hear you spin at samadhi…xander, way to set the mood and rook, this was the first time i had a chance to listen to you, and fuck it was rocking…like, really rocking :)…ahkentek, i think i’ll be seeing more of you once i move out west…great last song to play, but what was it called?

and the people…well what else can be said…fucking awesome…it was great watching some of the people who obviously just wandered up there from the main floor get really lost in the music too…i love seeing people who like psy listen to psy for the first time…it reminds me of that night my friend and i wandered into area 51 on a whim back in 2001

Amazing night !! – was refreshing to be amoungst a fully happy crew of people Smile Basilisk – your set was the highlight of my evening and I have to say that i really ejoyed your set too ROok.

Wow, that was a great party last night. As has been said already, awesome job with the deco and setup. It set the stage for a wicked vibe all night long. Awesome crew of people going for it all night. And the staff at the ElMo were quite nice and courteous too. Definitely not your typical club mentality. Congrats to all the Metamystix crew for all the hard work and effort and thanks for having me out to be a part of it!

The lighting, marvelous visuals, dry ice (smoke) machine & even the bubbles were way cool!

Basliisk, your set totally blew me away! starting with shiva space technology got me right into the groove (so happy to finally dance to shpongle at a psytrance pary and not just in my lvingroom!) and you just kept the journey going and going. Beautiful technoshamanism on your part, bringing the vibe together, setting the intent, creating the space for great energy to flow through us, through the music. I was completely sober (aka, devoid of external intoxicants) and still went on a beautiful psychedelic journey. You reminded me why I love psytrance so much. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

To all the drummers: what you added really gave dimension and more creative force to the djs music. Special thank you to mr.-green-and-feathery for keepin the drummin going earlier in teh night. the accentuation of the bass drum was supa-dupa!

To all the dancers: thank you for sharing space and helping to create a super vibe. Wonderful to share the dance floor with wonderful friends and new fairies. to the boy with the holey wings: your dancin vibe was certainly sweet and it was awesome dancing with you.

Thanks to all who contributed to the atmosphere by showing your true selves It was lovely to see so many fairies, gnomes, forest creatures and all other wonderful beings. the moon goddess bows low and shines upon you!

I missed most of rook’s set as I had to finally drop down after dancing my hardest for all of basilisk’s set. ahkentek, you certainly kept a great vibe going and you made my feet move and move and move.

Elfmaster and those who contributed to the vision of the visuals: HOLY FUCK! that was great. The chakra theme (and raising of the chakras) was definitely felt and was truly awesome. The visuals definitely kept the place in a positive, expansive and inspiring space.

Thanks to the golfing wizard for a drive home and a beautifulwalk into the sunrise.

All the extras really help to make the party: the bubbles, the psychedlic candy holder, the drums, the lais, the decor, the effort is definitely appreciated to the utmost!

Congrats! Metamystix and all your magikal helpers for making your first party a truly inspiring and succesful time. I heard only the best things from everyone about this and know that there is universally a call for more parties of this variety.

What an amazing night! I really enjoyed this party – I haven’t danced like that since Eclipse last year!
The deco was superb, and it was fantastic to see all the costumes. Everyone was happy, smiling and having such a great time, which was wonderful to be a part of.

Rook, I didn’t stop dancing from the moment you began to spin, WICKED set!!!

Magikal Intentions was indeed magikal! so magikal, i left there floating like one of the bubbles that came out of … thin air … The whole PLACE was booming! As always, i didn’t really leave my spot near a loud speaker where I enjoy the idea of deafening myself for a short period of time while I drive home and have to crank the beats to make it home to kitchener. Especially this time around! I had to fly solo as I couldn’t bail on yet another party, cuz our dear friend Matt has returned from his adventures abroad… So the evening was a shorter one as I didn’t want to trek home alone to late…Almost wanting to pass out during rush hour traffick from Georgetown to Kitchener is bad enuff!

To make this long journey of a story a shorter one, AWESOME night..AWESOME decor…i was high on life all night long! [...] Well, I can’t wait for the next installment of a party like that one!

This party was absolutely phenomenal. It blew me away.

And Rook, holy-sweet-mother-of-God. You stamped our hands on the way in and we didn’t think much, just another nice dude stamping our hands. When we saw you on stage, and heard your set, our mouths dropped open in disbelief. That was BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS the craziest party I’ve ever been to, thanks a lot for all the hardwork guys.

Metamychix, DAMN GOOD JOB laides… My LORD.

But yea, Rook, super job dude, I didn’t know Psy-trance/Psy-core got /that/ heavy.

Well, I’ve finally internalized and rationalized the whole night, and I do say that Magikal Intentions was a truly special event. And when I say “special” I don’t mean special like that kid who wears a hockey helmet at recess… No way… I mean TRULY SPECIAL.

I really felt the intention there throughout the whole night. I enjoyed showing up early and socializing with everyone to the nice downtempo beats. Nice idea to have no blacklighting early on. This allowed eveyone to say their “hello’s” and maybe even get chakra scanned by an elfmaster or fuzzled by a wuzzle. I could feel the excitement building until the ceremony started. Wow. That was really cool. The drumming, the magic tricks… what a way to start things off. When the blacklights came on and the heavier beats started, everyone was ready. Basilisk, nice set man. Probably the best I’ve heard from you… I love that Ticon track you dropped early on. It a perfect early track for this party… Substance….

Rook, what can I say. You are an incredible DJ. How did you get so good so fast???? It seems like it was just weeks ago that you played your first gig, and you have consistently kicked my ass on the dancefloor since then. Nice job man.

Ahkentek, I really enjoyed your set, but I think I would have preferred to hear the lighter beats that you played later on in the night, and vice-versa. I dig your sound though, and found it refreshing from what we normally hear in Toronto. Very earthy sounds… Is this what is played more often on the west coast?

Elfmaster & the visual team were great as well, helping us work through each chakra…

And last, but certainly not least, Metamystchix, you girls are unbelievable… The deco was outstanding and it really showed how much care and effort was put in to the party. I loved all the forest creatures dangling overhead.

All in all, it’s hard to believe this was the first party the collective has thrown. I cannot wait until the next one…. The elmo is a pretty good venue for psytrance as well… Nice for a change.

I had a great time….it was a really fun party.

My friends and I left early, right after basilisk’s set. We were just too tired from all the dancing we had been doing. The costumes looked great…I had painted a mask to wear, but it got too hot, so it ended up being hung on a tree for the night Confused
I had lots of fun though, and I hope that it was an indication of what’s to come!
