THE PARTY
Friends – Join us for a soulful journey through tribal beats & global rhythms, as we welcome Adham Shaikh’s Dreamtree Project and Interchill’s Neerav for another superb night of downtempo electronica. As one of Canada’s top producers, Adham stands among an elite group of international artists pushing the boundaries of world music. This live dub fusion performance featuring sitar & tabla is sure to bring on dancefloor bliss.
THE PERFORMERS
Dreamtree Project
Dreamtree is the Indian dub fusion project of ethno electronic master Adham Shaikh and sitar virtuoso Uwe Neumann, featuring tablas by Shankar Das. This dynamic trio weaves a magic carpet ride of Indian raga afloat a dub cloud of swirling tabla, spacey beats and booming basslines. Beyond notions of East meets West, Dreamtree conjures a fertile space for anyone who longs to be seduced by the ritual power of music and the possibility for enlightened communal engagement!
Neerav
Active on the Canadian scene for 12 years, Neerav has been instrumental in exposing dancefloors to new sounds and genres. He is one of the driving forces behind the Interchill label as well as Nuclear Ramjet and an avid promoter of emerging local and national talent. His mixes move from minimal & progressive techno to psychedelic tribal, ethno, breaks, drum n bass and ambient.
Shen
Producing dance music and performing live for 8 years, Noah is devoted to authentic and soulful strains of techno in all its permutations. His sound continues to evolve while remaining firmly driven by the dancefloor. The Shen project is geared toward digital downtempo, electronic dub & emotive IDM and has provided him with a creative outlet for productions that roam beyond the conventional borders of clubland. Shen’s debut full-length ‘Outlines’ was released on Native State Records this past December.
Medicineman
As DJ and host of ‘No Man’s Land’ on CIUT 89.5 FM, Richard Martin has been exploring the evolution of world fusion and global electronica for 7 years. His radio show is one of the few destinations for music within the genre and is consistently rated among the top shows at the station. Richard’s unique cross-cultural mixology has earned him a massive audience.
IMPORTANT SONICTURTLE EVENT UPDATE: *LOCATION CHANGE*
(alieninflux + promise + smallworld music)Friends,
Please be informed and help spread the word that THE LOCATION FOR FRIDAYS PARTY HAS MOVED.
The party is now being held at DRAGONFLY (1279 Queen St. West of Dufferin east Brock Ave.)
We were originally keen on using this space for the event, and now it just came available, so we jumped at the chance.
We look forward to decorating and transforming it into a real event space. If you haven’t been to Dragonfly before, this is the time to check it out, it’s a great, high ceiling, well ventilated medium-sized space right on Queen West and it’s perfect for a live set like Adham Shaikh’s Dream Tree Project. There’s lots of room for everyone to sit, dance, mingle and do what you like. It is also a licensed space. We are really happy about this change.
* Note: Adham Shaikh & Dream Tree Project Live will be occupying the slot from 11:30pm – 3am and after Montreal’s Interchill Records man Neerav takes over, so make sure you come early a make sure you hear this night of fantastic music. We are all very excited about.
Please note that nearly all event information is posted as it was found, and is not the work of Basilisk or Ektoplazm unless otherwise stated. If you wish to reach the promoters, follow any relevant links and make direct contact with them!
