New Sapiens is the first major release from CrowNick (Gilad Arama), an Israeli psytrance producer with over a decade of experience as a drummer in various metal bands. After graduating from school as a sound technician in 2005, Gilad set to work on his debut album, simultaneously released on CD and as a free promotional download in July of 2007. CrowNick’s style is dark and dirty with a full-on drive accentuated by considerable influences from metal and industrial—a sound situated somewhere between that of Combustion-era Dark Soho, Megalopsy, and Paranoize. The menacing bulk of the album is aimed squarely at night-time dance floors, culminating in a tribute to the Israeli metal band SALEM, and capped with a chilled finale. Featuring mastering by Space Cat and a full set of high-resolution cover images, New Sapiens is a professional-quality release sure to appeal to those who like it dark and twisted.

A bit hard-edged and unmelodic for my flavour, but some great rythmic elements and overall production makes this a nice release with i’m sure more than plenty of fans of the style.

Great album, Personally I generally prefer a bit more melodic and less full on,
but i am sure people who really like the full on psy will love this =)

This album very much reminded me of my one love.. Infected mushroom. Very high energy, upbeat, psychedelic album, coupled with crazy sounds, and very fast paced, which gives you a mind boggling set of tracks. Track one starts off on the neutral side, then leads into the darker side of psytrance. This album then cools you off with the last track being more downbeat, relaxing, and not so dark as the other tracks.

Wow This Is So Psychotic But In A Great Way!!!
This Album Kicks The Ass Of The Devil Himself LOL, I Thought The Tracks Were All Produced Awesomely And If There Is More From CrowNick I Want To Hear It. I Have Probably Listened To This Album 100 Times And It Is Never Disappointed Me The Least.
