It seems that the art of composing melody has been forgotten in some psytrance circles. Many artists pay maximum attention to how to produce a greater sound only to leave a very important factor out of the game. On the other hand, the mass of young listeners often pay attention only to the kick itself and to aggressive sounds. It seems that we have all forgotten the reasons we fell in love with music in the first place. Open Source gives all the weight to keyboard-originated notes, presenting Melodies Strike Back, a full-length album filled with emotion-triggering melodies. Boys and girls of the psytrance scene, get ready for a diachronic trip into music, as this time Open Source strikes back with a ton of melodies!

Fantastic album – excellent progressive trance. Great job Open Source!

  • M says:

If you want quality melodies, listen to goa trance.

  • Dan Flict says:

I like it, even if it doesn’t sound like prog to me. (prog is not slow fullon)
There ARE a lot of melodies here, and cool harmonic atmospheres. Production is also good! Congrats, diggin it! ;)

  • Dan Flict says:

Oh yeah, HATE the cover art… But that’s taste, I guess…

  • acid_botanist says:

I have to say that the melodies are catchy, the production is superb, and although initially I thought this is not my kind of music, I was deeply (and I repeat – DEEPLY) taken by it, listening to it at night and in the headphones. I guess it takes a master to turn your tastes in music around.

Btw, I love the cover art – ;) that’s taste, too, as well as sense of humor, I guess. :DDD

  • Bananiq says:

Sorry not much melodies. Sounds like generic full on. Reminds me Interstellar or Astrix but kind of worse quality. #nohate

  • Malocoxsix says:

Great album thank you ! Too Rare To Die is absolutely awesome !!!

  • trancer says:

This is psychedelic? maybe in the barbie world

  • Remerged says:

Quality production as usual with Open Source, I really dig this prog style, but why are you using sexy women to promote your music? You did the same thing with your lastest album “Ego Killer”. I just dont get it…

  • Shaligram says:

    LISTEN TO IT LOUD ;-)

  • Alex Cruz says:

  • SpaceRabb1t says:

I love the cover art and I love the melodies even more! I’m usually only here for the downtempo but I can dig this release!

  • Kazzam says:

Love you. give me mooooooooooooooore <3 filakia bro mou <3

  • After listening to it thoroughly from beginning to end I can say that this brings a breath of fresh air to a highly saturated scene, with something out of the ordinary, unique and original. The melodies are definitely there as described and shining up front in the tracks. TO someone up here who said that there are no melodies, with all due respect, I think you should get your ears checked… This is simply killer, great work Open Source!

  • DarkDwarf says:

Your a hell of a producer my friend! Very nice job, i love them all!! =D

  • Swedra says:

Haha, lol, the one who said this is only psy in a “barbie world” have not opened their mind yet….unless they’re talking about the somewhat horrible cover, yikes..

  • flow says:

i really liked the tunes, except for all the awful samples of men shouting. Without them, these tracks would have been straight into my sets.

  • Acid_Casualty says:

Glad to hear your latest flavour. I commonly use your tracks as a cooling of period when I play a full-on Psy Set. Whne I finish playing 2 tracks, I return to 145bpm, and expect my dancefloor to keep up. Your style is great for the intermission! Thanks!!
    =D

  • ZoD says:

Ultimate tunes and the melodies are indeed flawless, the flow is super synchronized, looking forward for more releases. Getting the old releases too..
    thanks !!

  • Eaglos says:

What was the idea behind all those vocals? Was it some sort of tribute to a past decade?

I only kept the first track and threw away all the rest.

  • Alex says:

This is good stuff, Well thought and creative, More fullon than progressive, The melodies are sweet! Its very groovy too, Great job Open Source and company
