AIYIA is the debut album from Bulgarian artist Resonant Warrior (Borislav Lazarov), already known to Ektoplazm visitors for the release of the psychedelic downtempo album Sense Of Feather as Maharishi in 2011. Previously he produced psytrance with Velimir Andreev (Psystein) and Alexander Dragomirov (Metaphysical/Extatic) under the name ASOMA but here he is ready to present his solo work, drawing upon 15 years of experience in the psychedelic scene. Resonant Warrior’s sound is mainly characterized by strong melodies and distinct harmonic structures paying tribute to the golden age of Goa trance without ignoring developments in contemporary psychedelic trance, always avoiding cheese and extremes in a search for the mysterious magic pinch to induce altered states. The resulting album is a stellar contribution to any psychedelic trance ‘n dance collection from the Walkman and CD players of the Jilted Generation, dedicated to the lost-in-translation Indigo Generation. Time for mind era! Mastered by Ralph Knobloch (Braincell/Solar Spectrum) with artwork by Emil Netzov.

I am really enjoying this album (perhaps, partly because it is from Bulgaria, which has a special place in my heart). I think it’s very original and complete. The samples are well thought out. It seems that this album has an uncommon depth to it. A mystical journey rather than a collection of dance tracks true to the genre.

Bulgaria has a lot of mysticism. Of all the Balkan countries, it has the kind of Eastern characteristics that I enjoy the most. Although considered Slavic (right?), its folk music is almost Arabic in flavor. One of the biggest producers of roses, rose oil, & rose water, if I am not mistaken.

Well, Its good. But i see strong influence by Macedonian trance scene. If i close my eyes i would say that it is Innerself or something. Anyway, good luck and keep going!

This album is epic. I just recently got back into all things Psytrance and this was definitely the Full On album that reawakened my love of that style. I agree the samples are extremely well used. I also find the progressions and riffs to be really soaring and uplifting. I have listened to this front to back numerous time working and exercising. 5/5!

Wow! What a nice surprise! Great storytelling, melodies and sound design. It never goes over the top, but delivers a fun psychedelic journey. Not sure why it’s classified as Full On, I guess the basslines could be the reason. I consider this Goa.
