Bel Vys Osma is the third album by Spruce, an idiosyncratic artist from Norway releasing with Anomalistic Records. With this release he wishes to let listeners make their own associations from the music itself, which is, after all, simply an arbitrary arrangement of digital audio signals by some random entity. Composition, arrangement, mixing, cover art, and mastering by Spruce.

    This is an interesting album.

    4/5 stars.

  • Minnemooseus says:

As a fairly recent explorer of dance electronica/psytrance, I don’t have a great background to make judgements. I have, however, been exploring ektoplazm quite a bit. Initially I was exploring the downtempo stuff, especially the psydub. I’m not a dancer, and the slower stuff is my primary interests. But I am branching out into the uptempo.

All that said, this album has struck me as standing out as being special. To be honest, my psychic connection is some of the stuff from Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.

In the process of downloading the earlier two.

    For whatever it’s worth, I’m 57.

  • I still find Spruce to be one of the greatest producers I have ever had the pleasure of discovering, let alone meeting. His styles range diversely, but always catch the one strand of emotion in my brain I have never expected to feel through music. His creations take me on journeys into the unknown, and all I can do is sit back, put on my headphones, and let it carry me. To clarify, I do not do any sort of mind altering processes when listening to this music. I close my eyes and feel something truly incredible. This is pure art, and I highly acclaim his albums.

Spruce is nothing short from a genius, perhaps an artist far advanced for this time. Disconnected from anything we expect, his music will surprise and make you hungry for more.

Minnemooseus, my personal favorite is Origin. The second, Ubikvad Omniheita, is also fantastic, but aims towards a more bizarre dimension. It will take a long time to REALLY understand this stuff, but its totally worth it. Life changing for me. I am very excited to continue listening to this great gem.

    great work \,,/

  • solitarysignal says:

This and Ubikvad Omniheita are, in my opinion, two of the best albums to come out of Ektoplazm. I can’t stop listening to them, they’re so full of life, motion and interest.

  • Dan says:

Never heard of Spruce before, but will definitely get his older albuns.
This is outstanding music! No words..

  • Minnemooseus says:

I’ve left a note at the “Ubikvad Omniheita” page concerning problems I’ve had with the MP3 download, and I also used the “report a broken download” function there.

Short version – The MP3 files are almost twice the expected size, and the entire download is pushing 700MB (for a 2:52:08 album). This, for some reason, really caused my computer problems in dealing with the unpacked files. But I’ve managed to repossess the MP3’s to normal 320 files, and am listening to now.

Anyway, anyone care to check out what the problem is there?

  • Rubensis says:

Very nice Album! I burned it on a disc right away to put it in my car! It is different and has good beats. It is a very dance-able production but also one to listen to and not be bored! Keeps me wondering what is coming next! Very creative stuff!

  • Yvs Vyr Bel Vos Had me in tears. My god.

  • Xenofish says:

Quite interesting album, has some nice ideas and atmospheres.

  • OuterSpruce says:

Thanks for the kind words and support everyone! :)

  • mean_liar says:

This is a FANTASTIC album. There’s a gliding playfulness in the otherworldly melodies that really elevates this above other typically grinding darkpsy tunes. It’s gripping and unique in a genre that can too often sound undistinguished.

  • Mindphaser says:

very interesting, visionary and deeply psychedelic. brilliant stuff. cheers.

  • Nymphomania says:

The complexity and ambition of these ideas I could only compare to classical music

  • Nymphomania says:

Leaps and bounds beyond all previous Spruce music. There is no album like this one. Beautiful!

  • Great work as always ! Three quality albums under your belt , onwards still !

  • AXIAL AGE says:

    SPRUCE: THE BEST!!!
