Boston based audio/visual duo Zebbler Encanti Experience, consisting of Ben “Encanti” Cantil and Peter “Zebbler” Berdovsky, serve up their debut album Psychic Projections on Gravitas Recordings. Twelve tracks push the idea of multi-genrism in the truest sense of the word as the pair tackle both sides of the spectrum from face-melting dubstep and moombahton to thought-provoking downtempo and melodic hip hop. One notable unifying bond seeming to hold these tracks together is their continued attention to the psycho-actively sculpted sound design and powerful melodic progressions. Mastered by Encanti at Vermin Street Studios, Boston, except for the remixes. Tracks 1-4, 6, and 9 are co-produced by Joel Friedman. Lyrics on ‘Data Mind’ by Zebbler; lyrics on “Profit” by Encanti. The programming on this is pretty awesome, but the vocals really drive me crazy with how goofy and cheesy they are. Hearing that vocoded voice croon “beneath the rumble of the bass” just makes me cringe.
so 3/5. some good stuff here and there.

In all honesty, this is pretty good.
An album that begins with promise of musical intelligence; beautiful ‘Psychic Projections’, beautiful ‘Quetzalcoatl’, Beautiful ‘Totem’ and beautiful(ish) ‘Temple’.
Waning magical and psychedelic, waxing Scrillex, the rest of the album begs an audience of rave “n0bbs”. What a disappointment from such a promising beginning . Start over and don’t listen to a word of what people tell you. You have this next one! Make it pure you.. make it pure love for music !
