psyknights, that’s a good time, something unique and trippy

Yes, I am guessing these are the albums that didn’t sell so well. This is either to make minimal profit or to prevent losses for the artists or labels, or for any other less glorious reason. When you pay full price you show your support for the music in more ways then dollar numbers, if that’s the problem, then why bother buying it anyway? These prices are very competitive indeed, I am guessing this is to rival the popular digital shop which will be unnamed, where high quality compressed audio files are bought for 10 dollars.

I believe shops like Saikosounds order in bulk from the distributors–so they might end up with 10 or 20 copies of a release. Obviously this kind of sale is tied to overstocking; they’ve got a lot and want to start moving them. Some of these must be sold at a loss however… three bucks for a CD is about half of what the distributors charge if I’m not mistaken. Doesn’t matter much to the artists, however. As long as the CDs aren’t sent back to the distributor they’ll get paid–well, assuming a bunch of other details, such as the continued existence of the label and distributor, the honesty of those involved, and numerous other factors too mundane to mention here. Paying full price is nice but it doesn’t mean the artist gets anything more out of a sale.

Thank you, sir. Sorry, sir, didn’t mean no offense. Right on the nail’s head it answers my question that if you pay for music it doesn’t matter how much you pay for it the artist gets their fixed amount anyhow. But I didn’t mean paying full price is nice(er), I just don’t regret doing so, some of it was fresh material that came in quite soothing and much needed at those times. I am happy I did, but now let’s see if I missed anything, and look at that enormous list.

  • Basilisk says:

Haha, no need to be so formal. But yeah, I know what you mean.
