Flow Records 2004 (Vinyl Single)

A :: Battered
B :: Deeper

Drawing upon years of experience, ex-Flying Rhino producer James Monro satisfies long-held expectations with two deep and psychedelic progressive monsters.

Battered features huge atmospheres and a snakey hypnotic hook that repeats through-out the song. Sweeping pads clean up the soundscape from time to time and then re-introduce the psychedelic bass stabs as the percussion clanks along. Composition is delicate and lets this night-time beast grow to proper proportions, full of depth and tension.

Deeper is the more subdued of the two, atmosphere intact and groove increased, with light tribal percussion pushing the song forward. Curious structural tricks break out of the four-by-four groove every now and then, which is just the thing to keep a proggy dance floor on the move. James Monro’s background in the psychedelic trance field fuses admirably with a progressive house approach, resulting in an atmospheric tribal groove that is sure to appeal to the crossover crowd.

This is sophisticated high-quality progressive-psychedelic trance that will not disappoint discerning listeners with a taste for fat minimal grooves.
