I have to say, it is a very cool thing to hear a mix featuring music from the site! Psyentifica has been very active in providing detailed comments for many of the releases available through Ektoplazm, and I really appreciate this gesture to the worldwide community. He has drawn on material from several releases including Positive Reaction, Warriors Of The Sun (Part 3), 60 Full Moons, State Of Spirit, Golden Vibes 1, and Cosmo Circle’s album Never Land. The second track into the mix is actually one of Psyentifica’s own compositions. Entitled Singularity, it is scheduled for release on an upcoming compilation from Infinity Loop Music. Be sure to drop by his Myspace profile and leave a nice word if you appreciate the spirit in which this mix was made!

20 :: Logic Bomb - Ansi [Solstice]

Since I had a wicked time DJing at Dark Matter 2 on June 9th, 2007, I am very glad to say that the live recording of my set turned out well enough to warrant sharing it! This set features several different styles of full-on psychedelic trance, moving from dark and aggressive beats through a series of heavy hitters into an upbeat and euphoric conclusion. With a full two hours to work with, I was able to orchestrate a complete tour of the harmonic spectrum, eventually ending with a song from Logic Bomb’s new album, just as the set began. I would like to dedicate this one to all those who came out on Saturday and gave their best on the dance floor. It was a small party, but it seemed like we all had a blast! Enjoy the tunes!

Note: after posting my Live at Harvest 2006 recording last year, a few visitors mistakenly thought I produced the music myself. In order to alleviate any additional confusion, I am breaking with tradition and using the “DJ” prefix for future sets and mixes.

18 :: D-Nox & Beckers - You're A Star (Club Version) [Stargate]

Here is a live recording of my set at Harvest Festival 2006! Naturally it isn’t as polished as my studio mixes, but it sounds good enough to send around. As I was opening the trance tent at 9:00 PM, the intent behind this performance was to get the night started right, beginning with an old favourite from 1992. From there I dig into progressive trance and tribal house territory, keeping it all fairly low-key. The final half hour picks up the pace, taking the crowd on an electro-influenced rollercoaster ride designed to get everyone pumped and psyched for a full night of dancing and celebration. Enjoy!

DJ Nivoc - Infinity

(Mixes) Author: Basilisk :: Posted: Wednesday, May 10th, 2006 :: 1,580 views

01 :: DJ Cosmix & Etnica - Kumba Mela [Matsuri]
02 :: Section X - Xperience [X.DR]
03 :: Semsis - Semsis [Koyote]
04 :: Nervasystem - Terraform [Psychic Deli]
05 :: Prana - Voyager III [Dragonfly]
06 :: Disco Volante - El Metro [Transient]
07 :: Underhead - Skuff 1 [Koyote]
08 :: Total Eclipse - Waiting For a New Life [T.I.P.]
09 :: Transwave - Cycles of Life [Symbiosis]
10 :: The Light - Dusk [A.A.A.]

Here is a blast from the past! Ten years ago, at the first rave I ever went to, I heard DJ Nivoc showcasing the early sound of Goa. In honour of the occasion, I have dusted off one of his old mixes from 1996 to give you a taste of the sound that first stoked my passion for psychedelic trance!

Infinity features very early releases from many of the classic labels, including Matsuri, Dragonfly, Psychic Deli, and Symbiosis. The early part of the mix is really quite sublime, with a focus on deeper analog soundscapes courtesy of Semsis, Nervasystem, Prana, and others. The energy levels begin to rise with Underhead’s overlooked classic Skuff 1, after which the listener is treated to a set of all-time classics from French artists Total Eclipse and Transwave. Enjoy the vintage old school flavour!

DJ Basilisk - Heliocentric

(Mixes) Author: Basilisk :: Posted: Sunday, March 19th, 2006 :: 3,758 views

01 :: Vatos Locos - Innovato [Dragonfly]
02 :: Matenda - Force Majeure [Flow]
03 :: Cosma - People On Hold [HOMmega]
04 :: S>Range - Microchip 23 [Spirit Zone]
05 :: BLT & Danny Makov - News [Iboga]
06 :: Chromosome - Borderlines [Y.S.E.]
07 :: Ace Ventura - Cardiac Arrest (Zen Mechanics Remix) [Iboga]
08 :: FREq - Cosmic Nature [Z.M.A.]
09 :: Natural Flow - Flying Toasters [Groove Zone]
10 :: Jaïa - From Tokyo [Digital Structures]
11 :: Magnetrixx - Syntex [AP]
12 :: Silver Surfers - Mudjaji (Protoculture Remix) [Nano]
13 :: Psypilot - Full Om [Turbo Trance]
14 :: Orion - Groove Control [Solstice]
15 :: Mr. Peculiar - Crystal Energy [Sonic Dragon]
16 :: Blue Planet Corporation - Alidade (Wizzy Noise Remix) [Candyflip]

This is the sound of summer: sixteen upbeat tracks smoothly mixed into a journey that softly builds from thoughtful grooves toward an energetic peak. The introduction is purposefully sedate, though Cosma’s song rapidly catalyses the emotional power of the developing storyline. The mix keeps on pumping steadily until Jaïa’s From Tokyo, when a funky tribal twist alters the trajectory and sends the mix spiralling up into the full-on morning trance style of Psypilot and Mr. Peculiar. The last track is a winning remix of an old classic which is sure to leave one with a lingering sense of residual warmth and satisfaction.

Heliocentric is my second shot at a harmonic mix, blending melodies in complimentary keys for the majority of the transitions between tracks. This allows me to mix for longer periods of time, enriching the flow with a greater degree of musicality. Enjoy!

DJ Basilisk - Mystic Revelation

(Mixes) Author: Basilisk :: Posted: Friday, March 10th, 2006 :: 4,099 views

01 :: Ninja - Showtime [Oxygen]
02 :: Mr. Peculiar - Alien Mushrooms [Spirit Zone]
03 :: Lemurians - Phrygian [Shiva Space Technology]
04 :: Orion - Rolling Stone [Solstice]
05 :: Dark Soho - Away [Alchemy]
06 :: Psysex & Infected Mushroom - Dirty 80s (Wrecked Machines Remix) [Hom-Mega]
07 :: Logic Bomb - Marauder 2 [TIP World]
08 :: Sesto Sento - Primi TB [Compact]
09 :: Menog - Emotions [Spectral]
10 :: Infected Mushroom - Facing [Vision Quest]
11 :: Meller - Valhalla [Tribal Vision]
12 :: Wizzy Noise - Majestic Wisdom [Spun]
13 :: The Higher Human Form - I Hear Them Call [Z.M.A.]

Composed as an experiment in harmonic mixing, Mystic Revelation is a curious blend of contrasts, uniting the forces of dark and light in a driven melodic journey. Ninja’s Showtime kicks it off, immediately involving the listener in a deep fusion of full-on energy and balanced atmospheric sounds. The slightly Gothic character of the mix becomes apparent by the time Dark Soho’s track glides in. The keystone is Logic Bomb’s Marauder 2, the strongest example of the yin and yang contrasts evident throughout the tale. Soon the mix takes a deeper turn, diving into the holy choirs of Infected Mushroom’s Facing and mysterious vibrations of Meller’s Valhalla. The story concludes with The Higher Human Form’s I Hear Them Call, an ethereal comedown possessed with an epic quality.
