Eclipse is easily the most established psytrance festival in eastern Canada. Recently I was sent the link to a video tribute directed by David Croucher featuring the song “Portal” by Takouma from Quebec City. Watch this for a little taste of the wild side of Canadian festival culture:
Super Galactic Expansive is a unique collaboration between KiloWatts (the prolific James Watts) and MC Amagine. Described as “psychedelic quasi-hip-hop,” their style is like nothing else I’ve ever heard–though admittedly my explorations of this kind of music have not gone that far. Still, their album Supersensible Science (available on a “name your price” basis from the band’s homepage) is a serious mind-melter that will surely overwhelm your senses with its densely packed rhymes and intelligent beats. As a way of introducing this project, here is a quirky video for the song Broken Clocks made by Vostek:
Remember, you can download the entire album in lossless audio quality direct from Bandcamp!
Here is a music video by VJs Maex Steel and Lysid for Meller’s Organic, a deep and driving progressive psytrance song originally released on the Cosmic Connections Chapter One compilation from BMSS Records last year.
Wombatmusic is the “experimental downtempo playground” of Kristian Thinning Andersen, a Danish producer behind the well-known tribal trance act Elysium. After releasing much of his back catalogue for free download, Kristian returns with a new video for a track taken from Wombatmusic’s live tour in 2009. Here is “World Of Modern Science”:
