Baron Samdi is Oswald Pfeiffer, a French producer known in the Goa scene as PharaOm, a frequent contributor to Underground Alien Factory Records. Cursed Bloodline introduces Pfeiffer’s darker side: a rich psychedelic world of sound distinguished by orchestral elements and plenty of eerie atmospheres. This release covers the strange middle ground between light and shadows, working with themes of mysticism, witchcraft, and voodoo to tell the kind of story you might find in the New Orleans of the weirdest horror movies. Warm and sunny days are finally here. As summer brings us more joy Neogoa has decided to honour the lovers of Goa trance with another interesting release which will surely bring a lot of new energy to the dance floors of the world. The Aural Exciter is the first solo release by Javi (Jonas Slosse), a Belgian producer who previously contributed to the Pantheon compilation with his wonderful track, Into the Vortex. Now returning to Neogoa, Javi offers something for those who prefer a touch of darkness in their Goa trance spiced up with forest atmospheres. This set was recorded live at Re:Generate, the name chosen by the Om Reunion Project to set the mood for their summer solstice gathering in 2011. I was scheduled to play on Sunday morning at the Moon Bass stage, a great little setup in a forest clearing on a beautiful piece of land in Southern Ontario. It felt like the right space and time to take a trip into the history of the psychedelic trance subculture so I mixed up a diverse assortment of old school Goa trance classics after sunrise. As always, this set was completely improvised; absolutely nothing was planned prior to stepping on stage to ready my equipment. This musical experience was co-created with a fantastic crowd of people who emerged from the woods to dance with enthusiasm to these old school gems. Sun Station Records and Overdream are proud to present Soundprints, a special free release to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the band’s formation. Overdream is the project of Makus and Dana, a couple in real life and an artistic duo on stage and in their studio based in Kiev, Ukraine. They started to combine their energies into music in the spring of 2006 and during these 5 years they have achieved outstanding results, emerging as one of the most productive and successful psychedelic trance projects from Ukraine, having released a debut album on legendary Avatar Records and over 30 appearances on top psychedelic trance labels worldwide. Since the very beginning the main mission of the band was to deliver psychedelic music without sticking to genre definitions too much. The music of Soundprints fits this concept entirely, with five previously unreleased tracks ranging from hi-tech twilight tunes and full-on with Goa flavours to dubby downtempo trance. Their sound is innovative yet truly psychedelic, maintaining a warm old school touch that we all love so much. All tracks are written and produced by Maxim “Makus” and Olga “Dana Do” Kurushyn.
