Disco Volante : Moonraker (Man With No Name remix)
Morning Wave : Dreams
Comments:
There is now a "Goa Trance 2" compilation available from Rumour, with many of the same artists represented.
What we think of it...
Tacky name but good chewns is how my friend describes it. A good selection of tracks but certainly not the definitive album (although Rumour have allegedly trademarked "Goa Trance" as their name - seems they also took "TRIPCD1" as the catalogue number!)
Extremely cheeky name was my first thought when I saw the cover, probably not a good CD. But when I saw the tracklisting I had to change my mind ... Astral Projection, Total Eclipse, Etnica and Man With No Name is for me the same as quality tracks. Astral Projection's "Power Gen" is a quite hard track with brutal sound on it. The remix on Total Eclipse's "Le Lotus Blue" is also very good. Mr No Name's "Sly-Ed" was featured on the epic Oakenfold mix from Dragonfly but feels still fresh (like everything else from the master of Goa...). No Name's remix of "Moonraker" is also stunning Goa but the best track is definitely Etnica's "Tribute" with one of the most gourgous sounds going through the chewn. The rest of the tracks are good but there's nothing to jump up in the air and swallow a fly in pure luck for. An OK album with some very good tracks one it. My big problem is probably that I compare every new Goa-album with (T.I.P.) "Yellow" ...
It`s a ok cd, but it could have been a little harder more like the astral projection sound.
some of the tracks are very bad (organic tea )and is shame to goatrance style.
astral projection and man with no name makes the quality of this CD.
the album is good, but the main reason to buy this is
Power Gen!!
Taken from the 1994 Trust in Trance 2, album, this track
is definitely one of the milestones of the goa sound.
Unfortunatly, as far as I know, the Trust in Trance albums
are only available in Israel.
Get it for the first track (Astral Projection's Powergen),
beside that the whole affair it's pretty much forgettable:
Only Salamander and Man with no name rescue the CD from
being, er, bad, actually.
I agree - Power Gen and Tribute are by far the best
tracks on the album. Power Gen is a pure pounding hard
end-of-the-night track, and Ethnica's Tribute is as near
as damnit to aural LSD! As my parents would say, this sort
of music fries the brain! Worst track - Spacebuggy's Star
Lit - a very average trance-by-numbers dirge.
This is the first Goa based trance album I have purcahsed and was totally blown away with Astral Projection. Next track was Salamander and this was good. After these couple of tracks I was slightly disappointed with the rest of the tracks as i was expecting more hard stormers such as Power-Gen. Maybe I have not listened to the rest of the CD enough times yet. Can anyone give me advice on CD/compilations which have a similar feel to Astral Projection?
This was my first goa compilation that I purchased and I loved it. Power Gen,Tribute, and Dreams can be listened to over and over. Don't let the cover discourage you from buying it.

Damn there's an echo near the bottom here. Possibly the
most mediocre of goa albums only due to the inconsistencies
of the various tracks. Of course ethnica's 'tribute' has
to be one of the seminal goa sounds (could'a been off
return to the source). but my big disapointment is still
dreams (the last track). On the whole not bad, but the
second album Goa Trance 2 is actually a lot better. On the
other hand there are worse albums masquerading as "goa"
The music is good, 'Power Gen' is xcellent!!
The label is NOT one of my favourites...Commercial shit!!
Let's just hope that they don't hype Goa...it would be a disaster!
Atoms in Movement
Can anyone confirm the rumours that 'Rumour Records' have tried to copywrite the Goa Trance name as some sorta daleyesque scam? [Ed: Tis true]
Goa Trance is ours not theirs and if they have then me mucho avoido.

When you have authors like Total Eclipse, Man with no name, and Astral Projection, it can't be a very bad album ! I think it's a good one, not the best in this style, but just a good one with a plus : Power Gen is really excellent !
HEY!!! Number three is out!!! It contains: Prana & Amanite - Black Rain, Witchcraft - Whale, Synchro - Babes On Broomsticks, Bass Chakra - 230.000 Miles, Subcouds - Greenflow, Pleiadians - Jungle Track, Butler & Wilson - Deliverance, Prana - Lifeforce, Chakra Khan - Mauve Zone & Sundog - Touch the sun... Why don't you bye it... This one...number one, I don't have but, It's probably good because number three was not to bad...
I haven't heard the other two volumes yet but volume three
motivated me to order them. It's very inconsistent, as usual
but there are four brilliant tracks - "Black rain"(Prana & Amanite Fx)
"Whale"(Witchcraft), "Synchro", and "Jungle track" by Pleiadians
which is the best and most original track I have ever heard, I want
to find out more about pleiadians, who are equally as brilliant on the
"first flight" flying rhino compilation
I agreee that this borders on commercial shite, and most of the tracks are simply crap....but the first Track....Astral Projection's "Power Gen" is SO GOOD....it's SOO GOOOD....I can't say enough about it...although made in 94'....even now, in 97', it's one of the best Tracks I've ever heard....an absolute stormer....buy the CD just for this Track..it's worth it....if you're a DJ, you can't live without it...as for the rest...man...fuck it....BOM!!!

Another early minimalist trance compilation. It suffers by comparison to some of todays awesomely overproduced trance but is a good compilation in it's own right. It comprises earlier stuff by many respected trance outfits. The Salamander and Astral Projection tracks are real rareties in 1997. I like it, most of my friends like it, even the thrash nutters. Tip: this album is best experienced when gouching at sunrise just before passing out. See you in the Zone...
