Psytrance meets breakbeats. It is an obscure style, not commonly produced. Some artists draw upon drum 'n bass rhythms, others prefer to work with more electro-flavoured beats. Slower material of a similar nature can be found under downtempo.

Delicious Music is stoked to release BZZZ, a fresh collection of tunes from Messy Mass, a sonic alchemist from Copenhagen, Denmark. His style can be described as a quirky fusion of multiple genres melting together to form a psychedelic and mind-bending experience. “BZZZ”, as it is used here, is a general term encompassing a variety of phenomena resulting in brain overload, body spasms, and difficulty speaking. The word derives from new nonsense and can be used to describe a variety of undefined and uncategorized sound elements, all of which are seeking the boundaries of modern moronic music. Through weird synthesis, strange breaks, and a truckload of wonky rolling bass lines, Messy Mass is exploring BZZZ with a truly experimental approach, crossing genres and influences to whip up a scrumptious auditory four course offering epitomizing the blissed out vibe a sunny Sunday morning dance floor at an outdoor doof. Mastered by Suntekk Mastering with cover art by Andreas Lindholm and Søren Martin Mark Andersen.

Cybernetika returns to Ektoplazm with Colossus, an extraordinary full-length album fusing psychedelic trance and drum ‘n bass with futuristic science fiction atmospheres. Following on the enormous success of last year’s The Scythe Of Orion, which was declared the best free psytrance album of 2010 by Ektoplazm visitors, and building on the genre-bending experimentalism of Atropos (2009), this album delivers exactly what Cybernetika fans have been waiting for: epic storytelling through innovative electronic music. As with his previously releases, Cybernetika has written an epigraph to situate the album within a thematic framework: “As all-consuming waves of entropy were reaching our galaxy, mankind was forced into a desperate battle for survival. With discovered technologies far beyond our understanding, we were able to construct a last bastion against a rapidly dissolving universe, right in the center of our galaxy: The Colossus, a gigantic, artificial shield of protection, preserving stability of space itself. With the Colossus, we can defeat our own destiny…” Track 6 (Humanity: Static) originally written and produced by Vortech. Mastered by Kri @ Audiovalve. Artwork by Stefan Hürlemann.

Extra Celestial Transmission: The Remasters is the definitive collection of classic tracks by London-based producer ECT (Leigh Griffiths), written between 1997 and 1998 and originally intended to be released as his full-length debut album. Instead, the tunes, including several cult favourite “Pigmies” collaborations with über-producer Mass (Afro-Celt Soundsystem/Imagined Village/Edgecore), ended up scattered across various compilations on different labels. Even so, ECT’s unusually twisted and chaotic brand of dirty psychedelia made a lasting impression on the scene, influencing (or alienating) many psytrance producers of the new millennium. Now, having applied an “everything on 11″ coat of digital polish (to what were already pretty sonically overloaded tunes), ECT is pleased to share/inflict this “lost album” on a new generation of trance listeners. Prepare yourself for an unruly onslaught of liquid metal leads, filthy breakbeats, upsetting bass lines, frenzied atmospheres, children’s toys, William Burroughs, and Lady Penelope out of Thunderbirds, as Mr. Jolly rides again. Exterminate all rational thought. All tracks remastered in 2011. Cover by planXdesign.
