The second full-length offering from Cyan Music is Horizon, the third studio album from Smooth (Marco Koeller). Whereas Marco’s New Age Hippies project is focused on a more energetic variety of progressive psytrance, Smooth explores deeper progressive house and club-friendly trance motifs. Horizon demonstrates a variety of approaches, from silky smooth narco-house to UK-influenced progressive offerings that should work equally well on the dance floor as at home on a Sunday afternoon. Expect to hear a few catchy vocals, hints of “sunshine and rock ‘n roll,” and some seriously funky grooves on this crossover album.

i was not really digging the occasional ‘party people in da house’ samples, but overall this is a really solid proggy/trancy house album. really good sounds & excellent production as always!

  • @ Travis

Hehehehehehe…. I really love this Sample :) It was featured on one of my first bought Vinyls ever,
“The Roof is on Fire” by Westbam :) *lol* My Plan was all the time to get this Sample and place it in one of my Productions…. Call it Nostalgy :) I love that oldchool tracks…

    Really, really, really liked it.

Hah, “vocals”. Barely even noticed, I wish they were not old school though. But if it’s for nostalgia, then that’s alright. But to anyone who hasn’t heard house much this might sound like house music didn’t change at all. In today’s house I’d expect a reading of a paragraph from some unknown science fiction book …. and a slapping.

But if psytrance fans get a warning because of some old school house sample, then those who are not familiar with psytrance should get the same: “Beware of over-used samples from that movie that everyone saw 20 times. High chance of multiple substance references and possible suggestions for ingestion. Expect 20-30 cm of Matrix samples.”

    :) It’s all good though.

This music is nice. Maybe I’ll go undo the bear traps and sleep without boots on for once. Cheers.

    Oh yeah, bring more !
